Danity Kane Tops Album Charts
26-Mar-2008

“Welcome to the Dollhouse” was released last Tuesday.
Diddy’s Making the Band 3 creation has secured its second No. 1 album in as many tries, selling 236,000 units of Welcome to the Dollhouse (Bad Boy) in the week which ended Sunday, according to the Nielsen Soundscan figures.
The sales of Danity Kane’s second release narrowly trumped that of the group’s first release, Danity Kane, by 2,000.
Danity Kane was the third band created on the Making the Band show, following O-Town, whose debut album peaked at No. 5, and Da Band, also released on Bad Boy, whose only album debuted at No. 2 in 2003.
The release of Welcome to the Dollhouse marked a week where 6 albums made their debut in the top 50. Also, for more than half of the returning albums to the top 50, there were spikes seen in sales, which can be attributed to spring school vacations.
Last week’s No. 1, Rick Ross’s Trilla, dropped to No. 3 with sales of 90,000.
