NBC Will Hold Upfronts Six Weeks Early
26-Mar-2008

The stems from NBC’s new strategy ...
The strike-shortened television season has once again become even weirder, as NBC made a surprise announcement Wednesday.
NBC says that it will present its fall 2008 schedule at a news conference next week, six weeks ahead of its rival networks and much sooner than it has ever done in the past, according to TheHollywoodReporter.com.
This new strategy is part of the new NBC motto that disregards the traditional upfront week in the middle of May in order to announce its 52-week schedule in early April, then hold one-on-one meetings between the network heads and advertisers in New York, Los Angeles, and other locations as well.
Participating in the event, set to take place in the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, will be Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff, the co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, as well as NBC Universal sales/marketing president Michael Pilot and network ad sales president Marianna Gambelli. The stars of NBC's programming will not be present during this time, in an effort to cut costs and because many of the network’s shows are currently filming.
