Rapper T.I. will have a year to perform community service before going to jail.
ABC News has reported that since rapper T.I. has pled guilty to having an unregistered machine gun in his possession, he can avoid long term jail time if he agrees to tell today’s youth that they shouldn’t follow in his footsteps.
The rapper was sentenced to spend 1,000 hours talking to youth about drugs, gangs, and guns. In response to the sentence, T.I. said, “I'm looking forward to turning this negative time in my life into a positive. I know I have a long road of redemption to travel.”
T.I. will not avoid jail time overall. He will most likely be sentenced to a year in prison, as long as he does his community service. He may get a reduced sentence if he completes the service and shows good behavior.
At the moment, Harris will have a year until his jail time, but after that year, will serve a year in jail and three years in home supervised detention, and complete a total of 1,500 hours of community service.
