Donnie Wahlberg Agrees to New Kids on the Block Reunion
The past year has seen a plethora of long-awaited reunions, including Led Zeppelin, STP, and more. It seems that the trend is not over yet.
The New Kids on the Block reunion became official this week after Donnie Wahlberg was finally convinced to go back on tour. The Boston Herald reports that Wahlberg, 38, had "no interest going out on a nostalgia tour and singing the same material." But seeing as the old songs were the reason fans have waited years for the reunion, the rapper-turned-actor soon changed his mind. "We absolutely will do the old songs for sure," he said.
That means fans will absolutely for sure hear songs like "Cover Girl" and "Step By Step." Wahlberg's only requirement was that the group record some new tunes in addition.
New Kids on the Block got its start when producer Maurice Starr randomly picked out five teenagers off the streets of Boston. The Kids eventually sold about 70 million records worldwide before their split in 1994.
