Jackson Dropped From Lawsuit

Jackson has been rectified against charges that he contributed to the death of a patient treated at Marian Medical Center.

The Associated Press reports that a judge has cleared Michael Jackson from a lawsuit filed by the family of a patient who died at a hospital after she was moved to make room for the pop star.

Judge Rodney Melville dropped the charges against Jackson on Tuesday, in response to an appeal from Jackson's attorney, Timothy Gorry.

The family of the victim - Manuela Gomez Ruiz - attempted to sue both Jackson and Marian Medical Center for infliction of emotional and mental distress. The victims' family claims that Ruiz was kept from critical care after she had suffered a heart attack on the same day Jackson was brought in with flu-like symptoms during his 2005 child-molestation trial.

According to documents filed in the lawsuit, 73-year-old Ruiz was on life-support, but was moved from a two-bed room to make space for Mr. Jackson. The family complained of an "outrageous, circus-like atmosphere" in which Ruiz died.
