Katie Couric Will Not Be Replaced

CBS has no plans to replace anchor Katie Couric.

According to Reuters, CBS plans to keep Katie Couric as their evening news anchor.

Couric has recently had her job security put on the line since the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that she may leave her job as early as next January.

CBS Corp. Chief Executive Les Moonves told Couric Friday that there were no plans to replace her or her staff. "She's our anchor today, she's our anchor tomorrow, and she's our anchor in the future," Moonves said.

Couric is the first female solo anchor of a major U.S. evening newscast. Her contract expires in 2011 and her annual salary is allegedly worth $15 million.

Meanwhile, recent ratings show CBS in last place. Moonves reportedly spoke with staff because they were frustrated about news articles which misrepresented the facts of the matter. Moonves reassured the staff that they "love the broadcast, love the job that Katie is doing, and there are no plans for any changes in the future."
