Indiana Jones 4 to Receive PLENTY of Advertising
I don't know about you, but I'm marking down the days till May 22. Sure I'm counting down the days on my Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End calendar, but what I'm anticipating is the May 22 release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Besides being a mouthful, it's also being poised to be this summer's biggest blockbuster. And why shouldn't it be? In addition to packing the punch of Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas, it will also feature teen heartthrob Shia LeBeouf, and did I mention it's an Indiana Jones?
I wasn't even born when the first Terminator came out, but couldn't wait till the 2003 sequel. Many of the target audience will be familiar with 1981's whip-cracking good time, in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but a significant percentage of those who will see it probably were not yet born when the franchise was born - which should make it all the more exciting for Paramount. Can anyone else smell the possibilities? As if the talent behind the film wasn't enough, word has come out that massive advertising campaigns are in place with various companies.
According to USA Today, Burger King will go all out with an Indiana Jones inspired burger, the Indy Whopper. M&M's, Expedia and Dr. Pepper will be following suit as well. I remember an old soda commercial linked with the second sequel, 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, though I believe it was for Diet Coke. I, for one, can't wait for the advertising extravaganza to begin.
