Yoko Ono Fights for Rare Lennon Footage

Yoko Ono is involved in a legal battle over copyrights to Lennon videos.

According to Reuters, a court case will begin in Boston next week between Yoko Ono and World Wide Video to decide who owns copyrights to unique footage of John Lennon, and whether the video should be made public.

Lennon is seen on video writing songs, smoking pot and talking about dosing President Nixon's tea with the hallucinogenic drug, LSD. The footage was recorded from February 8 to 11, 1970 and captures nine hours of raw footage of Lennon and Ono. Lennon composed the songs "Remember" and "Mind Games" during the three days of videotaping. A few weeks after the video was recorded, The Beatles broke up and the "Fab Four" went their separate ways.

World Wide wants to release the footage to the public as a two-hour, black-and-white film entitled 3 Days in the Life. The company allegedly paid more than $1 million for the tapes in 2000. World Wide has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Boston against Ono for copyright infringement. A preliminary hearing is set for April 30.
