Jesse L. Martin ends his run on “Law and Order” tonight.
Jesse L. Martin will be making his last turn as Detective Ed Green on Law and Order tonight. The actor has been on the show for nine seasons.
According to the New York Daily News's Television writer, David Hinkley, Martin is sent out of the show in style. According to Hinkley, Martin’s exit is a bit abrupt, but is handled well. The end sets up the transitions to Martin’s successor, Anthony Anderson.
Martin made his first appearance on the show in 1999 and has since starred in almost 200 episodes. Now that his run on Law and Order is over, Martin is supposedly planning on returning to his roots on Broadway, where he originated the role of Tom Collins in the Broadway musical, Rent. The Hollywood Reporter says that he is in talks to star in a new production of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.
