27-Apr-2008
Written by: Hillary Frazier
After 9 years, Prince finally agrees to perform at the California music festival, Coachella.
According to BBC, California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has been trying to persuade Prince to grace their presence since the festival’s start in 1999.
Nine years later, Prince decided he would join the other 125 artists, such as Jack Johnson and Portishead. It has been said Prince was paid $4.8 million to perform at the festival, but founder Paul Tollet has denied the reports.
Prince hit the stage on Saturday of the 3-day event, playing Radiohead and Beatles covers, and two encores including his hit, "Purple Rain," and a hyped-up version of "Let's Go Crazy."
According to BBC, Prince played 21 shows in London's O2 arena, playing a different set each night with guest appearances by Sir Elton John and Amy Winehouse.
Prince wore typical white trousers and a white shirt with glittery fringe, and told fans, “You are at the coolest place on Earth right now!”
