Courtney Love runs late for trial

Courtney Love was her usual crazy self Monday when she appeared at her New York court hearing a full five hours late. She reportedly mumbled a dazed apology when the judge lectured her, "I want to make it clear to you that you are supposed to be in court at 9:30, not 3 o'clock. Three o'clock is unacceptable."

Her lawyer's excuse for her tardiness was that Love was at first unaware that she was expected to appear in court at all.

She has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment for hitting a fan with a microphone stand in a crowded club. This was only one of many incidents that have created legal problems for Love; she also faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon, illegal drug possession, and disorderly conduct.

Despite her many trials this summer, Love seems optimistic, telling reporters after Monday's hearing, "I feel great, except for this nonsense."
