Parton Pleases the Crowd
3-May-2008
Written by: Melanie Sutrathada

Musical performer Dolly Parton performs in Radio City for a sold-out show.

With her trademark rhinestones and formfitting outfits, the country singer-songwriter, Dolly Parton, still knows how to put on a show, and her undoubtedly defined persona holds strong after 50 years in show business. According to Reuters, her engaging, two-hour-plus show, performed to an adoring, sold-out crowd at Radio City, consisted of all the songs people came to listen to, from vintage tracks like “Coat of Many Colors” to the enormous selling pop hits such as “Here You Come Again.” Fans were not only amazed by her fantastic soprano voice, but also her knack for comedy between songs. “You know I need the money,” she grinned while expressing her appreciation to the audience. “It costs a lot to make someone look this cheap.” Running a self-parodying monologue amid numbers, Parton kept laughter and smiles coming effortlessly with the ease of a comedian. The musical performer even borrowed a series of one-liners playing off the title of the new album from Jeff Foxworthy. Talk about getting your money’s worth for a show!
