Pearl Jam Working on Ninth Album
Pearl Jam has begun recording demos for its ninth studio album.
The record does not currently have a title, but the band has reunited, according to Rolling Stone, with producer Brendan O'Brien. O'Brien, of course, last worked with the band on their 1998 album, Yield.
But even in light of reuniting with O'Brien, the band still reportedly is not sure which way the album will go.
"We have about five ideas that have been worked on," said Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready to Rolling Stone. "Brendan is another set of ears that we respect and he's going to give us a different way to go, but I don't know what that is yet."
Pearl Jam released their most recent album, Pearl Jam, in 2006, to a great deal of positive press.
McCready told the magazine that the band has had one session with O'Brien and will most likely continue to work on the album in July, after its June tour. A release date has not yet been set.
