Britney Spears’s Visitation Rights Expanded
6-May-2008
Written by: Louise Robina Happe

Songtress gets privileges to visitation rights, due to increasing stability.

In a custody hearing at 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Britney Spears was granted an expansion to her visitation rights with her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

According to UsMagazine.com, the singer attended the court hearing, along with parents, Jamie and Lynne, as well as lawyer, Blair Berk.

In a press conference shortly afterwards, ex-husband Kevin Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, stated, “The court made orders today, they were orders that the parties were able to mostly agree to. It is a cautious step, but a step forward nonetheless,” adding, “The children are doing great — that's the key. That's what all of this is about.”

Kaplan also mentioned, “We are seeing signs of [Britney's] progress, and consistency over time is something welcome by Kevin.”

Court spokesman, Allan Parachini, read a statement from the pop star’s parents, which agreed with the positive progress their daughter is taking, “We are so pleased with Britney's progress, and we are very appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress.”

However, People magazine reports that despite the hearing, it is unclear as to how much more time Spears has been granted, with Kaplan merely revealing the court order’s “expansion of time” to Britney’s case.

Despite this, Britney and her family left the courtroom in good spirits, with her attorney, Stacy Philips, giving a thumbs-up to the press.

The next progress hearing is set for July 15, and with the singer's improving stability, her visitation rights are more than likely to improve as well.

Meanwhile, the pop star turned actress, whose father and lawyer still maintain legal control of her affairs, is filming her second appearance on the hit show, How I Met Your Mother, which is set to air May 12.
