Bryant Wins MVP
6-May-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
Kobe Bryant accepted the award at a press conference Tuesday.
Kobe Bryant won the first MVP award of his 12-year career Tuesday.
The Lakers star, and three time world champion, has arguably been the best player in the National Basketball Association for the past four to five years, but it was only this year, when his team had the best record in the Western Conference, when he was given the most valuable player award.
One could have never seen Bryant’s name on the award back in late October, when he requested a trade away from the Lakers. After doing this, Bryant was booed in L.A.’s home opener.
Currently, Bryant and the Lakers are looking to take a 2-0 lead over the Utah Jazz Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
At the press conference where he received the award, Bryant called the MVP a blessing and honor. But, as Bryant is known for, he stressed that he craves another award this season.
