Celtics Take Game One
6-May-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
Boston defeated Cleveland 76-72 Tuesday.
The first game of what was heralded before it began as an epic series between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, lived up to its billing Tuesday night.
The Celtics, led by the former MVP of the league, Kevin Garnett, defeated the Cavaliers by a score of 76-72.
The biggest story of the night, the Celtics victory aside, was the poor shooting performance from LeBron James. James shot 2-17 from the field, scored only 12 points and had 10 turnovers. His poor performance was in part due to a suffocating Boston defense, who had the best defense in the league this season.
Also of note was the inability of Ray Allen, one of the Celtics big three and star of Spike Lee’s film, He Got Game, to score a single point. This was the first time in years Allen didn’t score a point in a game, but was also because of the Cavaliers excellent defense.
Game two of this series tips at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday night.
