Youth Without Youth
Francis Ford Coppola directed this film version of Mircea Eliade's novel about an elderly Romanian intellectual in pre-World War II who experiences an event that lets him explore the mysteries of life. Coppola's return to the director's chair since 1997's Rainmaker stars Tim Roth, Bruno Ganz, Alexandra Maria Lara, and Andre Hennicke. DVD extras include commentary by Coppola and three making of featurettes.
Romulus My Father
Based on the biographical memoir by Raimond Gaita, director Richard Roxburgh's film tells the story of Romulus, a young immigrant who must overcome great adversity as he raises his son in a new land. Starring Eric Bana, Franka Potente, Martan Csokas, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, Roxburgh's directorial debut garnered a commendation at the Australian Film Critics Association 2007 Film Awards. DVD extras include deleted scenes, storyboards and a making-of featurette.
The 11th Hour
Leonardo DiCaprio narrates this gripping documentary on the state of the natural environment. Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners direct this compilation of thoughts from more than 50 of the world's greatest thinkers from Stephen Hawking to Mikhail Gorbachev, and Wangari Maathai to Paul Hawken on the environmental crisis. The 11th Hour goes beyond exposing problems such as global warming and mass species extinction, and offers viable solutions.
Walk All Over Me
Leelee Sobieski is Alberta, a small town girl who assumes the identity of her dominatrix roommate in order to pay the bills. Robert Cuffley's drama received four nominations of Canada's Leo award. Walk All Over Me costars Tricia Helfer, Lothair Bluteau, Michael Eklund, Michael Adamthwaite, and Jacob Tierney. DVD extras include commentary by Sobieski, Helfer and Cuffley, a behind the scenes feature, deleted scenes, outtakes, and music video.
