Winehouse Released Again
8-May-2008
Written by: Danielle Terreri
Amy Winehouse released on bail.
London’s Metropolitan police station released singer Amy Winehouse, 24, on bail Wednesday night. The disturbed singer has won multiple Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
The British singer spent eight hours in police custody after voluntarily turning herself in. Winehouse cooperated with detectives Wednesday afternoon to discuss a home video that had surfaced. According to CNN.com, the 19-minute video clip showing Winehouse smoking a substance out of a glass pipe was turned over to police by British tabloid, the Sun, after being made public. This is not the first police run-in this month for Winehouse. According to CNN.com, she was brought in Friday after admitting to slapping a man in a north London bar. She was issued a caution for assault. Winehouse is due back in court in May.
Ironically, the singer’s most highly acclaimed song, “Rehab,” addresses her disinclination to seek help for drug and alcohol abuse.
