“Iron Man” Brings Change to Marvel Infrastructure
8-May-2008
Written by: Nolan Maloney
The success of “Iron Man” has made Marvel reevaluate its executives.
Not content with tearing up audiences, critics, and box office sales, Iron Man has also affected Marvel’s corporate infrastructure.
Already earning over $200 million worldwide in opening ticket sales, Marvel Studios, film branch of the comic giant, has promoted producer Kevin Feige to President of Production and has extended chairman David Maisel’s stay in office through 2010. Maisel is also executive VP and a member of Marvel’s office of the chief executive.
Feige is a longtime Marvel veteran; joining Marvel in 2000 and being named prexy of production in 2007, he acted as producer on Iron Man and upcoming film The Incredible Hulk. Furthermore, he has had a hand in the monolithic X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four franchises, acting as executive producer or coproducer on most films.
“The leadership (Kevin) brought to Iron Man, specifically in the casting, creative development and production was stellar,” says Maisel.
Iron Man is out everywhere now; The Incredible Hulk opens June 13.
