Lindsay Lohan’s Mother Wins a “Top Mommy” Award
8-May-2008
Written by: Ivana Cheong
The honor presented to Dina Lohan brings bad publicity to mothers everywhere.
Dina Lohan, the “momager” of Lindsay Lohan, has won a parenting award from Mingling Moms Organization’s 2008 Top 20 Long Island Mothers of Celebrities. When she attended the honoring event, “Mom’s Night Out,” Dina Lohan said, “I think they understand that I'm a mom just like any other mom.”
The news seems to naturally raise a few eyebrows. The list was supposed to honor the moms behind famous careers, and in that case, Dina Lohan would fit. Her daughter Lindsay Lohan is more famous than a lot of Hollywood regulars. But it’s not the right kind of famous, which is why the public cannot comprehend why Dina Lohan is included with the other honorees, such as Michael Kors’s mom, Joan Krystosek, or Patricia Vian, who is responsible for the soulful singer Mariah Carey.
The New York Daily News commented that Dina Lohan has been criticized of her parenting methods during Lindsay’s wild legal and alcohol troubles last year that caught media frenzy. And as “[a] ‘celebrity’ in her own right,” Dina Lohan has also been criticized for exploiting her daughter’s fame to gain some of her own.
