DMX Arrest Pt. Two
Two days after his last arrest for driving 114 MPH in AZ, rapper Earl Simmons, more commonly known as DMX, is facing his second arrest for animal cruelty and drug charges. According to CNN.com, he attempted to barricade himself in his home. DMX now faces seven misdemeanors for animal cruelty, as five pit bull puppies were taken from his home after abuse reports, claiming he had not fed or watered the dogs. Three other dog bodies were found buried in the backyard, with one of them appearing to have been burned. There was no evidence the dogs were owned for dog fighting. The county sheriff, Joe Arpaio, told CNN.com, "A guy like this DMX character, with all his money and fame, has no excuse for not providing proper care for his animals."
DMX's lawyer is fighting back about those charges, and claims DMX was on tour and had hired a caretaker to watch his dogs, who in fact had fed and watered the dogs, but made the mistake of leaving them outside in the heat. The rapper had another run-in with animal cruelty charges in 1999, in New Jersey, but the charges were dropped after he recorded a public service announcement for an animal rights group.
DMX also faces four felony charges for drugs found in his home. He had been barricaded in his bedroom, but after awhile, he came out and posed no resistance to the arrest.
