Hannah Storm Joins ESPN
10-May-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
Storm’s contract with CBS ran out in April.
Former host of CBS’s The Early Show, Hannah Storm, will join ESPN in their new morning Sportscenter.
Storm has deep roots in the world of sports. She became the first full-time sports anchor at CNN in 1989, before moving to NBC Sports in 1992, where she worked for a decade. After her run at NBC, Storm decided to abandon sports and move to CBS and their struggling (compared to similar versions on NBC and ABC) version of The Early Show. But in light of the show’s struggles, CBS decided not to renew Storm’s contract, which expired in April.
The interesting thing about ESPN’s hiring of Storm, which will be announced on Tuesday at the network’s upfront presentation, is that it will directly compete with ESPN2’s morning programs of Mike & Mike in the Morning and First Take.
Storm, according to SI.com, is expected to start sometime in the next couple months.
