“Breaking Bad” Renewed
10-May-2008

AMC ordered 13 additional episodes of the critically acclaimed show.
AMC’s critically acclaimed Breaking Bad has been renewed for a second season. The cable network ordered 13 new episodes of the Bryan Cranston-headed series, Friday.
Breaking Bad centers around Cranston’s character and his life as a chemistry teacher who begins concocting crystal meth to make extra money to help pay for his cancer treatment.
AMC, a network known mostly for replaying classic movies, has had a nice run of luck with their first two series. The network’s first series to be renewed was Mad Men, which was also nominated for a slew of Emmy awards.
But even in the current times, with diminishing television ratings spelling trouble for many television shows, AMC’s announcement had been expected for months. This was because Breaking Bad averaged 1.4 million viewers, an amount that was roughly 300,000 higher than Mad Men.
It is unclear at this point when the second season of Breaking Bad will premiere.
