From Juno to Jane
Juno's leading actress Ellen Page has been cast as the lead for the new BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre.
This certainly is a big change from Page's character in Juno as a pregnant teenager. It's great how Page is branching out into more serious roles.
However, some British film experts aren't so thrilled with the casting.
According to Digital Spy, a source is quoted saying: "No one is doubting Ellen Page's acting abilities, but why a BBC movie of Jane Eyre couldn't have a British actress in the lead is pretty hard to stomach.
"It's not as if we don't have enough talented young actresses here who could play the role."
However, American actors have played British roles umpteen times and vice versa and there has never been a commotion about it. For example, Renee Zellweger played Bridget Jones and Cate Blanchett played Queen Elizabeth.
