Thurman Sues Lancôme for $15 Million
12-May-2008
Written by: Mandy Cohen
Uma Thurman has sued Lancôme for $15 million for using her name in adverts and campaigns once her contract with them had expired.
Fifteen million dollars?!? Are you kidding? That is a hell of a lot of money!
According to BBC news, Thurman’s legal case claims Lancôme enhanced its "prestige, stature and bargaining power," by helping retailers and others use her in advertising after September 2004. The company gave the "false impression" Thurman was still linked to Lancôme, her case says.
Lancôme, on the other hand, maintains that the mistake was unintentional. According to Reuters, L'Oreal spokeswoman Jennifer James said in a statement, "The use of Ms. Thurman's image after her contract expired, however minor, was neither deliberate nor intentional." She said the company declined to comment further in legal matters.
Thurman’s been getting a fair amount of attention from the media recently, first with her stalker and now with suing Lancôme. I wonder what will be next . . . the unveiling of a secret partner perhaps?
