Jimmy Fallon will replace O’Brien who is moving west to replace Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show.”
Jimmy Fallon is to replace talk show host, Conan O’Brien, on NBC’s Late Night next year. O’Brien will replace Jay Leno as host of The Tonight Show, as reported at an NBC press event.
NBC plans to take a short break from Late Night next year to refurbish the Rockefeller Center studio after O’Brien takes over for Leno out west. Fallon, 33, is ready to step into O’Brien’s shoes, which is expected to happen sometime in the middle of next year.
"I've been doing a monologue in my living room the last three years and it was embarrassing," Fallon joked at a news conference, as reported by FoxNews.com.
Fallon appeared on SNL for six years, where he worked under producer Lorne Michaels, who will also co-produce him on Late Night.
Michaels seems confident in Fallon as Foxnews.com reports he stated: "You're never really certain of these things, but I just think he's built for it," Michaels said. "You've just seen that he's really funny, he's smart and he has a really, really good work ethic."
