Former “Law and Order” Actor Arrested Sunday at LAX
12-May-2008
Written by: Danielle Terreri

Actor Dennis Farina was arrested Sunday after trying to carry a loaded gun onto a flight.

Former Law & Order actor, Dennis Farina, was arrested Sunday at the Los Angeles International Airport after trying to board a United Airlines plane carrying a gun.

Airport screeners found a loaded handgun in the briefcase of Farina, 64, for which he had no permit. The actor told authorities that he had forgotten to remove the .33 caliber semi-automatic from his carry-on before driving from Arizona to L.A. for his flight to Chicago. He was booked on felony charges and released from a Van Nuys jail on $35,000 bail the same day.

"He was apologetic and very cooperative, and he said he understood what was going to happen," said LAX Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb, as reported by latimes.com.

According to Holcomb, the LAX police encounter this issue of passengers forgetting they have guns in their carry-on luggage around 10 times a month. Incidents typically involve police officers traveling as regular passengers.
