“Reaper” Renewed
12-May-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

Despite poor ratings, “Reaper” will return for a second season.

The CW announced that it has renewed the critically acclaimed, but hardly watched Reaper, which has built an impressively loyal fan base.

The show will return for a 13 episode second season and will, according to the Hollywood Reporter, likely be paired with Supernatural, once Smallville concludes its run.

The network publicized their decision Monday, but also said that Reaper’s fate went down to the wire, because of the show’s struggling ratings.

The show’s most recent rating was around a 1.0 among adults 18-49. The show has experienced quite a dip in its quality and buzz, following a stellar pilot episode which was directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks).

Reaper joins both Aliens in America and Gossip Girl as The CW’s sophomore renewals, even though initial reports said that Aliens would be cancelled.

To ensure that Reaper would be renewed, fans of the show sent socks to the network, which was apparently a play on the names of one of the characters.
