Jury Selection Begins For R. Kelly’s Trial

Three jurors have selected Monday to serve on R. Kelly’s Trial
Three jurors, including a business executive, a telecommunications company employee, and the wife of a Baptist preacher from R. Kelley’s hometown have been selected for the rapper’s pending child pornography trial, as reported by the Associated Press.
Lawyer’s and the judge questioned 150 potential jurors Monday, of which 16 will be selected to serve with four alternates. Kelly was present for the interviews but remained mum.
The 41-year-old R&B singer is being tried on charges of child pornography. He has pleaded not guilty of videotaping himself having sex with a then 13 –year-old girl. The alleged victim, now 23, has denied it is in fact her in the video.
The trial will take place in Chicago at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse. Judge Vincent Gaughan will preside over the case.
Questioning and selection of a jury panel is expected to take a full week.
