Amy Winehouse Evades Charges
Rehab soul singer Amy Winehouse will not face charges of alleged drug use revealed on a home video, reports Yahoo.com. Police questioned the crooner for nine hours last week over a January video that shows Winehouse, as she appears to smoke a pipe traditionally used for crack, during a party at her north London home. Police began an investigation when photographs from the video surfaced in The Sun newspaper. Winehouse's spokesperson, Chris Goodman, stated that police had completed their investigation and confirmed that no charges would be brought against the British singer-songwriter. She was released on unconditional bail. Goodman stated, "Amy is pleased to be able to move on and concentrate on music and particularly looks forward to seeing her fans again at eagerly awaited festival performances this summer."
Winehouse's breakthrough musical style is only overshadowed by constant media attention garnered by her tumultuous private life of partying and run-ins with authorities. Last month she was cautioned by police for slapping a man in a bar.
