Whitney Thompson is first full-figured woman to win “America’s Next Top Model.”
Whitney Thompson is the first full-figured contestant to win the America’s Next Top Model competition, reported Reality TV World. “You’re the first America’s Next Top Model with a booty,” said show creator and head judge Tyra Banks, a talk show host and former top model herself. The 20-year-old woman from Atlantic Beach, Florida made history Wednesday night, in the tenth cycle of ANTM that aired on the CW. Though she was not the first full-figured woman to compete in the modeling competition, she is the first to reign as champion of America’s Next Top Model. Thompson’s prizes include a contract with Elite Model Management, a cover story and fashion spread in Seventeen magazine and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics.
Thompson impressed the judges with an outstanding performance during the CoverGirl commercial shoot. She outshined her two remaining opponents, Anya Kop and Fatima Siad.
Upon revealing that Whitney and Anya were the final two contestants, the girls learned they would stomp the runway in a fashion show wearing garments handpicked by Donatella Versace.
After a review of the women’s photographs and deliberation, Whitney was revealed as the winner.
As the show concluded, Thompson spoke of feeling different from others girls while growing up. “I’m here because I feel good about myself,” she stated, “and I want other girls to feel good about themselves, too.”
In February, her father, David Thompson, said, “Whitney is ‘stubborn’ and won’t cave into pressure to change her body. She’s very well-grounded. She’s confident in who she is and what she is.” That confidence and fabulous runway strut put her on top, Top Model, that is.
