Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi to Wed

According to TMZ, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have make known their plans to be wed.

The news was announced on Thursday following a controversial decision made by the Californian Supreme Court in which a rule was made to lift the current ban on gay marriage. The new court ruling can now allow same-sex couples to tie the knot in as little as a month.

DeGeneres and De Rossi have been dating since December 2004 and their marriage seems to be welcomed by many fans. According to the Associated Press, when the news was revealed during the taping of an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show scheduled to air on Friday, DeGeneres and De Rossi, who was backstage at the time, were applauded by audience members.

In previous interviews, DeGeneres confessed that she hoped she and De Rossi would remain "together the rest of our lives."

The comedian has also claimed, "I never would have thought my life would have turned out this way. I just feel so lucky with everything in my life right now. This is completion."
