Hicks Headed to Broadway

Taylor Hicks is the latest American Idol alum to star on Broadway. The 31-year-old Alabama native is set to take his turn as Teen Angel in Grease at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in NY on June 6. Hicks made the announcement today on the Today show. He is looking forward to his new role and said, "I am incredibly excited to be a part of one of my favorite musicals. The Soul Patrol's gonna invade Broadway!" The American Idol season 5 winner's run in Grease will last until Sept. 7. While in NYC, Hicks also plans to record his second album, a country styled record.

Other former American Idol contestants that have made their way to Broadway include Tamyra Gray, Frenchie Davis, Fantasia Barrino, Diana DeGarmo, and Clay Aiken.
