Janet Jackson's First Tour in 7 Years Kicks Off in September
Janet Jackson will be going on the road for the first time since 2001, with her "Rock Witchu" tour, beginning in Vancouver on September 10, reports eFluxMedia.
On Monday, the 42-year-old singer told the Associated Press that she had planned to go on tour two years ago to promote her album, 20 Y. O., but was discouraged from doing so by her record label. She then went back into the studio to work on her latest album, Discipline, which was released in February. Jackson's tenth studio album, it debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one. Songs from Discipline feature collaborations with Rodney Jerkins, Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Stargate, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream.
Jackson promises fans that the tour will be worth the wait, boasting that it will be "something that I've never done before, that people have never seen from me before." At this point, Jackson and company are in "full-blown tour rehearsals."
Dates for the rest of Jackson's tour will be announced, with tickets for the Vancouver opening going on sale June 7. Jackson hopes to "travel the world" with "Rock Witchu."
The pop star's last tour was in support of All For You. It was among the highest grossing North American tours of 2001.
