Obama Expected to Defeat Clinton by Early June

Clinton's controversial comments do further damage to campaign.

The chief strategist for Senator Barack Obama has publicly stated that he believes Obama will receive the absolute number of delegates from the Democratic party in order to clinch the presidential nomination of the party as early as the first week of June.

Obama's opponent for the presidential nomination, Hillary Rodham Clinton, made controversial remarks in a response to whether or not she was staying in the race. She alluded to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy when explaining how past races have lasted into June, which has raised eyebrows in the political community as well as in the media. Representatives of both Clinton and Obama have denied that the comment was anything more than a poor choice of words and Robert Kennedy's son has stated that he did not take offense to the comments that were made.

Obama currently holds a commanding lead over Clinton in pledged delegates with 1,974 and in committed superdelegates with 1,799. Puerto Ricans are scheduled to vote on June 1, while the final two primaries are slated to take place two days later in Montana and South Dakota.
