McCartney receives honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University

Guest of honor receives honorary degree

Sir Paul McCartney was a guest of honor in New Haven, Connecticut at Yale's graduation ceremony on Monday. The music industry legend and former member of "The Beatles" received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University after being given a hero's welcome by the thousands of students in attendance at the ceremony.

Richard Levin, the President of the prestigious Yale University, said to McCartney, "Your songs awakened a generation, giving a fresh sound to rock, roll, rhythm and blues." Levin praised McCartney's support of worthy causes as well as his overall body of work as one of the greatest icons in the history of the music business.

With the fans giving Sir Paul McCartney a standing ovation as he walked up to the stage to receive his honorary degree, a band at the ceremony played classic Beatles song "Hey, Jude". Many of the students in attendance flashed pictures of the musical icon and McCartney appeared to be in extremely pleasant spirits throughout the event.
