McCain and Bush to Make Rare Public Appearance Together
Current President George W. Bush and Republican Presidential candidate John McCain are scheduled to appear together for the first time in approximately three months today at a fundraiser held in Phoenix, Arizona according to MSNBC. The McCain campaign is acting quite strategic in regards to the fundraiser, specifically in terms of how to handle the situation of a public appearance with a political figure from the same party who has such a low approval rate.
MSNBC is reporting that the McCain campaign is trying to restrict the public appearance of the two men together by attempting to have the fundraiser's events held indoors. The reason for this is so the public will not correlate the two men together, which would prevent a negative image from arising for McCain's campaign.
In the process, McCain's campaign is looking to gain the support of Bush's conservative base by making the public appearance with the current President of the United States at the fundraiser event, according to the New York Times.
