TV Networks Join Forces in the Name of Cancer Research

ABC, CBS, and NBC work together to promote cancer awareness.

ABC, CBS, and NBC frequently compete with one another for the hearts and minds of viewers; the competition is fierce, as most viewers tend to shun television for the wonders of the Internet.

On September 5, however, these three networks will work for one another rather than against each other as they will air a prime time special to raise money for cancer research.

The program is titled "Stand Up for Cancer" and will feature performances by recording artists, film and television stars who, along with the three news anchors for the networks, Katie Couric, Brian Williams, and Charles Gibson, will give pertinent information relating to cancer research.

According to Reuters, money raised from the broadcast will go towards associations that work on research and treatment of cancer, with perhaps 20 percent to be earmarked for less traditional approaches.

The program will be produced by Lauren Ziskin, a cancer survivor and producer of the initial Spider-Man film.
