Katherine McPhee Signs On for Indie Film
2-Jun-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

Her new film is called “The Storyteller.”

Attempting to follow a similar route of American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson (whose Sex and the City doubled what was expected in the box office opening weekend), Katherine McPhee is focusing on acting as well as singing.

Her latest endeavor will be starring, alongside Wes Bentley, in the indie psychological drama, The Storyteller, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film will be directed by Robert Angelo Masciantonio for Feverpitch Pictures.

Bentley plays a writer whose life goes south following the death of his father, leading to his assistant (played by McPhee) starting an investigation whether, as HR puts it, “his muse as well as narrator for his stories is a figment of his imagination.”

This film marks McPhee’s third role in independent films, with the Idol runner-up having previously starred in Crazy and the soon-to-be-released The House Bunny.

Production on The Storyteller is scheduled to begin in August.
