Obama focuses on economy and jobs during speech in Michigan

Democratic candidate realizes the importance of gaining support in Michigan

After Michigan moved the date of its primary up to January, breaking national party rules, Senator Barack Obama removed his name from the election ballot, according to The Associated Press.

The Democratic Presidential candidate is attempting now to make a strong push for support within the state, having made a speech on Monday at Troy High School.

Obama emphasized how crucial his campaign in Michigan is going to be during the election process by saying, "For us to campaign here not only is important because we want Michigan's electoral votes, but because I think my approach to economic growth is going to be very different from Senator McCain's."

Obama explained how he intends to improve the economy, help the education system in Detroit and increase the number of job opportunities in Michigan.

According to the Associated Press, Obama gained two more superdelegates in Michigan on Monday, which ties him with Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton with seven superdelegates each in the state.
