Obama and McCain Prepared to Make Battle for States Competitive
Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama are preparing to pursue votes in states that predominantly have voted for the opposite party's candidate in recent years, according to Liz Sidoti of the Associated Press. The competition in certain states where each candidate believes they can take away votes from the opposing party promises to be extremely intriguing throughout the election process.
According to Sidoti, McCain is prepared to attempt to take votes away from Democratic-held states from years past such as California, Maine and Washington. Obama has specifically cited Virginia, Mississippi, North Carolina and Georgia, among other Republican-held states in the South, as some of his biggest targets during his upcoming presidential campaign.
Virginia is likely the state that would be the biggest upset if Obama is in fact able to take the electoral votes away from the Republican party since, according to Sidoti, the state has not voted for a candidate from the Democratic party in over 40 years.
