“ET” May Have Reported Misinformation
5-Jun-2008
Written by: Angelica G. Huertas

“ET” duped by an impostor posing as Angelina Jolie’s assistant.

As reported by the New York Times, Entertainment Tonight has released a statement saying that they may have reported misinformation when they reported five days earlier that Angelina Jolie had given birth to twins in France. They said they were conducting an investigation on whether the information had come from a reliable source, and that it may have come from someone only pretending to be Jolie’s assistant.

The Associated Press reported that producers at ET were told about the impostor before going on air with the bogus report; a claim which ET producers deny.

Immediately after ET’s report, representatives of Jolie began issuing denials to other media outlets. However, ET believes that the e-mail address that provided them with the information of the birth was a legitimate address which they had ample reason to believe was really associated with Jolie’s camp.
