Burton and Depp Reteam Seems Likely on Vampire Film
5-Jun-2008

The adaptation would be of Dark Shadows.
It seems possible that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp will reteam for an adaptation of one of the darkest, creepiest television shows of all-time.
The adaptation for Dark Shadows (1966-1971) is currently being written by frequent Burton collaborator John August (who’s written Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish), and involves story lines revolving around zombies, vampires and warlocks.
August is reportedly splitting his time between Shadows and Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam because of the pile-up following the writers’ strike. According to an interview conducted by IESB.net with Get Smart director Peter Segal (who will direct Shazam), August is writing Dark Shadows for Burton.
At this moment, it is still unclear whether Johnny Depp will play the story’s main character, vampire Barnabas Collins. But given his previous work with Burton in rather dark pieces – most notably in Sleepy Hollow and Sweeney Todd - Depp signing on for Dark Shadows seems to be a logical progression.
