Knightly to Star in "My Fair Lady" Remake

Actress Keira Knightly is reportedly attached to the current remake of "My Fair Lady."

According to Variety, Columbia Pictures is purportedly set to remake the classic musical, My Fair Lady, as a star vehicle for Keira Knightley.

Variety says that the 1912 setting, and the musical's original score will remain intact. In contrast to the original, producers hope to shoot on as many actual locations as possible, rather than the soundstages that provided the backdrop for the Oscar-winning 1964 film.

In 1965, George Cukor's My Fair Lady won the best picture Oscar and also picked up seven other wins including one for Rex Harrison's performance as Henry Higgins, a professor determined to make a flower girl into a respectable lady. In the original film, Audrey Hepburn played the flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, but her singing voice was provided by Marni Nixon.

Knightley is best known for her Oscar nomination in Pride & Prejudice, as well as her roles in Atonement and Pirates of the Caribbean.
