Polanski Documentary Airing Tonight
Premiering tonight on HBO is Marina Zenovich's Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.
This documentary deals with the 1977 case surrounding his sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl, which resulted in Polanski fleeing to Paris and remaining there for the last three decades, according to the L.A. Times.
The documentary centers on how the media played a role in manipulating the case, especially since the court was driven by an attention-loving judge.
Zenovich does not want to highlight the morality of the issue, but rather display how the media attacks and influences the celebrity life.
Polanski had been bothered by the media ever since his wife was stabbed to death when she was seven months pregnant. The attention for the 1977 case had the media vexing him further.
Neither the judge or Polanski were interviewed for the documentary. The prosecuting attorney, though, was interviewed and stated that he understands why Polanski fled.
Zanovich does not use this documentary to be an apology but rather an insight into a court case determined more by media frenzy.
