Diddy Going Back to Daddy?

Rapper and producer Sean Combs, otherwise known as P. Diddy, may have gone back to his original name, Puff Daddy.

Whether or not the revert has anything to do with a British court decision made in 2006, Diddy, also known as P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, or Puffy, Sean Combs has apparently decided to go back to a name he hasn't used since 2001, Puff Daddy, according to E! Online. His rep denied the report, but Combs's MySpace site revealed on a new single, "Check Your Coat," which uses the line "They call me Puff Daddy . . . he's back," featuring Greg Nice and Jermaine Dupree. The song continues, "Yeah, you heard me right-I said Puff Daddy. I'm about to back on that Puff Daddy s-t."

Although the song may seem to reveal he is going back to his roots, Combs edited a blog that formerly said, "This is your boy Puff Daddy!! Yes Puff Daddy," to say, "This is your boy P. Diddy, the King of the Remix." In 2006, a British court revealed Combs could no longer go by Diddy, because the name was already used by a U.K. record producer, Richard "Diddy" Dearlove, according to E! Online. At the time, Combs had said, "It's only fair that since he said he used Diddy first, that he be allowed to use it. I am blessed that I have many, many names to choose from." Which name he has chosen continues to be a mystery.
