DiCaprio to Star in "Atari"
Variety reports that Leonardo DiCaprio is to star in Atari, as Nolan Bushnell.
Atari is a biopic written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman that will explore the life of entrepreneur Nolan Bushnell, the creator of the Atari video game system and one of the founding fathers of the video game industry.
Atari, the company, was founded in 1972 by Bushnell and Ted Dabney and was one of the first companies to bring arcade games, home video game consoles, and home computers to the masses. Atari is widely known for bringing "Pong" to popular culture, along with the Atari 2600.
In addition to his role as the protagonist, DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, will produce the film.
According to the article in Variety, Bushnell's life rights had long been pursued by various suitors, but Hecker and Craig Sherman persuaded the gaming pioneer that they could do his unique story justice.
