Celtics Make Historic Comeback to Take Game 4
13-Jun-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
Kobe Bryant struggled as Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett carried the Celtics to one win away from the NBA Championship.
The Celtics pushed the Lakers to the brink of elimination by rallying from a 24-point first half deficit to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
Adding to the bleak events of Thursday night is a statistic that will loom over the Staples Center for three days; no team in the NBA Finals has ever won after trailing in a series 3-1.
The game began with the Lakers jumping out to a 35-14 first quarter lead, and saw Boston keep the score even through the second quarter. But the Celtics went on a 21-3 run to close out the third, bringing them within two points of the lead.
From that point on, it seemed as if the Lakers still had a good chance to hold on. But it wasn't until Eddie House stepped up with a two-point baseline shot to give Boston the lead that the Lakers seemed to have given away the game, and the series.
