Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA Teams Up with Google

Written by: Desiree Browne
The Bay State’s health insurance giant has agreed to work with Google Health.
Internet giant Google recently launched Google Health, a tool designed to allow patients to organize their medical records in a central, secure location. According to FoxNews.com, they’ve now found a new partner: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. The widely-used health insurance provider’s partnership with Google will allow members to open an account with Google Health so that they can have their records and claims at their fingertips.
Members and providers alike were wary of possible privacy violations, but Google has assured them that their records will be in good hands and that they will have no problem managing their records.
Other Google Health partners who have signed on since the start of the initiative are Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens.
