Heigl Shuns the Emmys

Katherine Heigl, from the hit show Grey's Anatomy, responds with her reason for not attending.

The Grey's Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl, has recently been raising some trouble! When she was questioned by Gold Derby from Tom O' Neil's Gold Derby Award blog about the reason her name was not listed as an attendee for the Emmys, she gave a rather surprising response that upset the staff of Grey's Anatomy.

Heigl, who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on the medical drama, responded saying, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention. In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

Is this her way of calling the show quits though? According to FOXNews, Heigl has new plans for her career, which include producing and starring in a movie based upon Carolyn Jessop's book, Escape.
